The new president of the University of Strasbourg is called Michel Deneken.
Since 2009 he was the first vice president. The 59-year-old Catholic theologian is the successor of Alain Beretz who, after eight years at the head of the university, was appointed to the French Ministry of Research and University in September.
Deneken is also a priest, but does not exercise this function. He assumed the interim presidency since September
On Tuesday, 13 December, he was elected President by a majority of the Board of University.
