The instrumental heritage of organs in Strasbourg is unique, both in terms of quantity and quality. About fifteen organs are the backbone of the potential organ music in Strasbourg, crossing the history of the fourteenth century to the present day.
Under the artistic direction of Damien Simon, titular organist of the Cathedral and the church of Saint-Paul of Strasbourg, Stras'Orgues, organ festival of Strasbourg, aims to make known this instrument, its repertoire and its universe to a large number of public.
For one week, the whole city will vibrate to the sound of organ concerts.
With musical performances in various places of the city, the festival will promote unprecedented and original encounters, particularly with the world of sports and gastronomy.
Renowned artists will perform works.
26 events are planned, including two nocturnal strolls that will lead from one organ to another: on foot, rollerblading or cycling.
Organ and contemporary dance, hip-hop for an organ show at the Aubette, children's show around the organ, gourmet music breaks, breakfast when the organ awakes, organ tea-time, dinner candlelight concert, unpublished film-concert ... ... The Roethinger organ of the Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux church and the great Walcker organ of the Saint-Paul church will be especially honored during this festival.
